When will the Calif bill signed by governor-charging 25 cents a plastic bag go into effect?
the Schwarzenegger administration is proposing a 25 cent fee for each single-use paper or plastic bag – up to $2.00 per transaction – to pay for a variety of state recycling efforts.
I, for one will bring my own bags-or stock up on them while they are free. When will the bill go into effect?
Nothing has been signed by the Governor, since no bill has passed. The bills that would do this are still in committee, and it looks like they may die there. If they did pass, and were signed, the program would take effect in July, 2010. BTW, there would be no fee for recyclable paper bags with at least 40% post-consumer content.
