RUN STOCKING
Stocking for a 29 gallon freshwater tank?
I just re-did my freshwater 29 gallon tank and I am looking for some ideas for a nice stocking. My water tends to run hard/alkaline, so I always try to keep that in mind. I'd like a community tank and I've been looking at some options. I only have gold barbs and Bolivian rams running through my head, can anyone help me out?
5 tetras of any kind that stays small.
4 cory cats
1 pleco(Do NOT get a common one! They get 2 feet!)Get a bristlenose pleco or a rubberlip pleco, they get about 5 inches.
6 guppies, 2 males and 4 females. Be ready for lots of fry!
I say then maybe a larger school of that one tetra.....or maybe some other livebearers, like a group of swordtails. only have 1 male b/c the males tend to fight.
Or maybe some platy's, they are cool fish. Balloon mollies are also cool.Remember, livebearers need to be in groups of 1 male for every 2 females. All the fish i listed after the ones you wanted are livebearers, as well as guppies.
Red tail sharks are marvelous. Get one, they are so pretty! They get 6 inches, and there mouths are pointed downwards, so they really do not eat other fish. They may eat your baby fish....but all fish pretty much do that...
Maybe either 1 female betta or at least 5 female bettas, nothing in-between or they could kill each other. I have 7 in one tank, there is a little nipping and stuff, but nothing serious, and I find females really pretty, you can find them in quite a few colors!
