I have a question regarding high school prom attire?
My sons' prom is going to be at a nice hotel, $100 ticket. I want nice pictures for him and his date. Their colors are creme and lavender, his date does not want to wear pantyhose, she wants to wear silver shoes and silver accessories. He has nothing silver, his tux his creme, vest and shoes are lavender, tie (purple/creme). I'm trying to explain to her that her accessories should be creme. The pictures are $85 and up, so I believe their colors should match to get nice pictures. I know the young girls like to go bare legged, however this is a formal event and I think sheer stockings would be appropriate. Give me your thoughts please...I'll be so glad when this is over with.

We are from a different generation and we know it is proper to wear hose and to co-ordinate colors when attending a formal event. However, it is best if you stay out of it. Remember, they are at the age where they know everything!
These kids today think nothing of following etiquette let alone appropriate dress. In years to come, she will look at those photos and be appalled that she didn't dress completely formal. However, it is their day and let them have it.
Maybe she will surprise you and change her mind after talking to some of her friends. Peer pressure is an amazing thing and if all her friends are wearing pantyhose, she won't want to be different.
Meanwhile, bite your tongue and take lots of photos at home of your son alone....before he goes to pick up his date. At least you will have some photos that you will be very proud of.
