A question about Sears stock?
If you had a share of Sears Roebuck & Co. stock circa early 1990's and did nothing...except maybe cash any dividend checks that came along...what would you have now?
Sears divested Allstate, and Dean Witter Discover. Discover and Dean Witter split up I think and the latter merged and became Morgan Stanley (I think). Sears of course was taken over by K-Mart to form Sears Holdings.
So what would the person who did nothing find themselves owning today in terms of shares? If it matters, assume the original Sears stock was held directly and not in a brokerage account.
...I'm thinking that somewhere along the line, you should have recieved notice that your shares have changed, been converted...or something....if not, you should go right to a broker with your shares/ certificates and get it straightened out now. You could be sitting on a bundle that you could re-arrange right now................or you could be broke....better to know .
